About the Author
Jim Lyttle, Ph.D.
Jim Lyttle, Ph.D., is a humor researcher and a member of the International Society for Humor Studies (ISHS). He teaches college courses and hosts monthly talks by humor scholars in Madison, Wisconsin. His doctoral dissertation at York University assessed the effectiveness of using Dilbert humor in business ethics training. He also holds a master's degree from the University of Western Ontario and a bachelor's degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, all in Canada.
He investigates the effective and responsible use of humor for persuasion, such as in therapy, teaching, counseling, or politics, and has presented his findings nationally and internationally at academic and professional conferences and at Mensa gatherings. His goal is to encourage thoughtful consideration of humor's benefits and dangers.
