On the personal front, Dr. Zur is married and is an involved father of 3 children. He grew up in Israel, lived in Europe, worked in East Africa, and has lived in the US since 1979. Before he shifted to psychology, he worked as an oceanographer, limnologist, and deep-sea diver. His personal life has paralleled his professional life when it comes to challenging boundaries. His adventures include driving safaris in East Africa as a young man, living with the Masai in Tanzania, scuba diving in different parts of the world, summating Kilimanjaro with his son, backpacking on the glaciers in Alaska, trekking in the Malaysian jungle, and more recently, hiking some remote parts of the Great Wall of China.
