Assessing AI Use in Therapy: How to Talk with Clients About Chatbots and When to Be Concerned
This webinar satisfies requirements for live interactive CE credits for all professions.
DESCRIPTION: Your clients are already using AI. The clinical question is no longer whether to address it but how. This webinar is the practical core of the series: how to screen for AI use at intake in a way that opens the conversation rather than closing it, how to assess the function AI is serving in a client’s life, and how to have honest conversations about benefits and risks without pathologizing a tool the client may genuinely value. We will distinguish between AI use that enriches a client’s relational world and use that substitutes for it.
The second half moves from assessment to integration. We will work through concrete ways AI can be brought into treatment deliberately, including AI as a between-session homework facilitator, for psychoeducation, and for customized relaxation and guided experiences. The webinar closes with detailed clinical vignettes, such as a chatbot in the couples therapy room, and a client presenting with AI psychosis.
Target audience: This course is appropriate for all mental health professionals
Content level: Introductory/Intermediate
