Clinicians across a variety of settings are serving autistic individuals who are missing a correct diagnosis. Misunderstandings about the neurology of behavior and the meaning of the DSM-5 guidelines are active barriers to correct diagnosis and ultimately to better outcomes.

This one hour lunch and learn is designed for clinicians at an introductory or intermediate level who would like to improve their understanding of the DSM – 5 guidelines for autism diagnosis. Information will include information about the neurology of behavior and the meaning of such terms as “present in the developmental period” and “across multiple contexts.” The seven diagnostic criteria will not be covered in this session, but will be the focus of a subsequent 2 hour webinar.
