Learning disorders are an often-overlooked phenomena that for many years has been quite confusing for clients, their families and, at times, even therapists. Often the disorders are passed along through generations without it having ever been identified. Challenges with reading, writing, and/or math have life-long implications, impacting not only academic and career opportunities, but relationships and family dynamics as well. Circumscribed behaviors that may be attributed to lack of motivation, or resistance, may very well be due to a learning disorder.
While NOT designed to teach diagnosis, in this beginner’s level webinar clinicians will gain an appreciation for, and more readily identify, specific disorders. Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia will be explained in a way that removes some of the mysteries and misconceptions surrounding these conditions. Dr. Norris will discuss the critical role mental health professionals have in education and providing much needed resources to clients, families, and the community at large.
