DESCRIPTION: Very few therapists receive training on talking to clients about sex and many are thus uncomfortable broaching this topic. Yet, many clients have sexual concerns and research shows that they often wait for the therapist to bring this topic up. Research also shows a significant relationship between sexual satisfaction and both life- and relationship-satisfaction. As part of enhancing well-being, it&#8217;s thus essential that we ask our clients about their sex lives&#8211;and be prepared to help them with this important aspect of their life.
This beginning level webinar will overview the importance of talking about sex in therapy. Basic technique and language for doing so will be overviewed.  Additionally, a basic, overarching treatment model for helping clients with sexual concerns will be presented. DESCRIPTION: If you avoid writing treatment plans, you aren’t alone. In one survey, 63% of psychotherapists reported they did not write treatment plans on all clients. Many stated they just didn’t have the time, or didn’t see them as helpful.
Yet treatment plans are required by insurance plans, ethics codes, and many state laws. Without an appropriate written treatment plan, you (or your client) may not be reimbursed by a health plan &#8212; or may be asked to pay money back. You could also be cited by a licensing or ethics board. Antisemitism, or discrimination and hate towards Jewish people, is considered one of the world’s oldest forms of hatred. In the U.S., in 2022, antisemitic incidents accounted for more than half of religion-based hate crimes despite Jews representing only 2% of the U.S. population (FBI, 2022). Antisemitic incidents, which had already been rising, increased almost 4-fold in the two weeks following the onset of war between Israel and Hamas in October 2023, compared to the same time the prior year (ADL, 2023).
The insidious nature of antisemitism, as with many forms of discrimination and hatred, can be difficult to identify, understand, and combat, resulting in an adverse impact on the mental health of Jewish patients in clinical settings. Yet, many clinicians report a lack of knowledge and an accompanying discomfort in addressing issues around antisemitism with Jewish clients.
The purpose of this webinar is to provide participants with a thorough background and understanding of antisemitism, what it can look like, and provide trauma-informed guidelines for addressing antisemitism that may arise in professional work.

The psychedelic medicine movement is part of a larger change in the field of mental health. A variety of new treatments are emerging – and bringing with them a new model of care that combines biological and psychological treatments.  As mental health providers, it is essential we understand that patients are accessing these treatments with and without our knowledge.
As a conventionally trained psychologist, I once viewed new biological modalities with a healthy dose of skepticism, lots of questions, and to be honest, some initial biases.  We want to keep our patients safe, but we can’t do so unless we have accurate information about these new forms of treatments. Understanding the potentials and pitfalls of these new biological treatments is absolutely critical for providing safe, responsible care to our patients in a rapidly evolving landscape.
In this training, Dr. Springer will review the science behind the innovation for some of the 
currently legal biological treatments and will talk through common questions of mental health providers, including:
Are these medicines treatments really safe? 
Are they really as effective as the hype in the media? 
Who is a good fit for these treatments and who is not? 
Do these new treatments replace the need for talk therapy? 
Are psychedelic treatments inconsistent with or unsuited for patients of faith?
