DESCRIPTION:
Developed by Steven C. Hayes in the 1980s, ACT focuses on helping people accept their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them. Incorporating ACT into your treatment approach will have a significant impact on your clinical effectiveness and the well-being of your clients. Because ACT takes a different perspective on psychotherapy, some clinicians wonder how to blend the applications into their own therapy approach. Other clinicians who have embraced the ACT concepts still have questions about certain aspects of the therapy.
Join Dr. Moran, author, ACT Trainer and Board Certified Behavior Analyst for an immersive and transformative workshop on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, designed to demystify the ACT concepts and equip you with powerful tools to enhance your therapeutic practice.
Kick off the training with a comprehensive introduction to ACT, including participation in engaging exercises to deepen your learning. Dive into key ACT metaphors such as “Feeding the Baby Tiger” and “Chinese Handcuffs” to explore the principles of acceptance and committed action. Reflect on personal commitment challenges and how to navigate them effectively.
Engage with interactive discussions and exercises to master ACT techniques and present-moment awareness. Participate in the “Take Mind for a Walk” exercise and a mindfulness session with “Leaves on the Stream.”
Explore self-as-context through metaphors and exercises, as well as values clarification activities. Learn to differentiate goals from values and address values conflicts, paving the way for effective therapeutic outcomes.
Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your skills and bring powerful ACT techniques into your therapeutic practice. Register now to secure your spot!
NOTE: This two-part training is a precursor to an optional skills practice training to be held November 1st.
