Description: Too often ethics is perceived as a set of do’s and don’ts. Avoidance of risk commonly takes precedence over other considerations, and when risk management is misunderstood, neither clients nor clinicians are best served.
Yet, ethical practice is not just a rigid set of guidelines. It is a dynamic and evolving process. Through understanding the nuances of ethical practice, we can be more flexible in our work, while maintaining the best interest of our clients.
In this highly interactive, intermediate level webinar, Glenn Marks, PhD draws on case studies and insights from experts in the field. The intention is to challenge assumptions, while highlighting underlying principles in a way that reduces the possibility of running afoul of regulations and guidelines.
Timely updates on proposed new HIPAA rules will be provided, along with regulations pertaining to records of discussion of reproductive health. The presentation will conclude with a brief overview of current standards regarding the use of AI in mental health.

Glenn Marks obtained his PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Iowa with a dual emphasis in neuro and health psychology. Throughout his clinical work, Dr. Marks completed treatment and evaluations through his work in both public and for-profit hospitals, the Veterans Administration, Department of Defense, State of Arizona and the University of Arizona. He oversaw the TBI treatment center at Ft Huachuca, AZ, where he and his team developed protocols for evaluation and treatment of mTBI for active duty military returning from the Iraqi and Afghani wars.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Marks served in numerous positions on both the local and state professional organizations including as president of the Southern Arizona Psychological Association.
Dr. Marks went on to complete an executive MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, following which he engaged in consulting in the non-profit sector. In his current work as director of the Zur Institute, he blends his passion for working with people from multiple backgrounds and cultures with his extensive clinical and professional experience.

Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit.
