Integrating EMDR with Couples Work: A Practical Approach to Resourcing, Attachment, and Connection
Participants will receive CE credit for 1 hour, in accordance with accreditation guidelines. The course also includes an additional 30 minutes of extended learning to deepen your skills and provide extra value.
This concise, practice-oriented training provides EMDR-trained clinicians with effective tools for integrating EMDR principles into couples’ therapy. With an emphasis on Phase 2 (Preparation), the course explores how to develop and strengthen shared resourcing skills to support nervous system regulation, increase a felt sense of safety and connection, as well as, fostering emotional intimacy between partners.
Using an attachment-informed and trauma-sensitive integrative approach, participants will learn how to incorporate bilateral stimulation (BLS), co-regulation techniques, and mindfulness-based interventions that help couples move towards connection. This training is ideal for clinicians working with couples impacted by trauma, attachment wounds, or emotional dysregulation.
Educational Objectives
This course will teach the participant to
- Identify at least three Phase 2 EMDR resourcing strategies that can be adapted for couples’ work.
- Demonstrate ways to apply EMDR principles to enhance attachment security and relational connection.
