Working with Blocked Processing in EMDR
Participants will receive CE credit for 1 hour, in accordance with accreditation guidelines. The course also includes an additional 30 minutes of extended learning to deepen your skills and provide extra value.
Some clients experience repeated blocks or stalled progress during EMDR—looping, numbing, or simply “nothing coming up.” This concise, brief, skill-focused course equips EMDR-trained clinicians with concrete strategies to identify, understand, and effectively respond to blocked processing.
Participants will explore the clinical underpinnings of common EMDR disruptions—including looping material, lack of new material during bilateral stimulation, or emotional shutdown. Through a trauma-informed and attachment-based lens, you’ll learn practical interventions to restore the client’s connection to their adaptive information processing system, improve flow of sessions, and reduce client frustration or disengagement. This course is ideal for therapists who want to feel more confident and creative when EMDR doesn’t go as planned.
