This 8-module basic EMDR training will include everything you need to know to begin using EMDR effectively with your clients. Throughout this immersive training, participants will learn the intricacies of EMDR therapy, gaining invaluable insights and practical skills to effectively address trauma and promote healing in their clients.
Participants begin the training by exploring foundational EMDR framework elements, discussing treatment goals, and homing in on the history-taking phase and preparation phases of EMDR. Through experiential exercises and case studies, participants will learn essential techniques for preparing clients for the therapeutic journey, ensuring readiness and resilience for the processing phases ahead.
Practice portions will be integrated into the sessions.  As part of the practice sessions, participants will spend one-on-one time guiding one another through the core processing phases of EMDR therapy, which include assessment, desensitization, installation, body scan, and closure. Opportunities abound to work alongside other mental health professionals in a mock client/practitioner relationship with the goal of promoting adaptive processing and integration of traumatic memories. Participants find the hands-on approach key to building confidence in applying EMDR skills in clinical settings.
The last sessions of the training centers on the final re-evaluation phase, reflecting on progress and addressing residual trauma symptoms. Throughout the 8-module training program, participants will not only acquire practical skills and theoretical knowledge but also cultivate a deeper understanding of trauma-informed care and the transformative power of EMDR therapy. Join us on this important journey to strengthen our capacity as catalysts for healing and growth!
DATES &amp; TIMES: All training modules to be held 8:30am-12:30 pm Pacific Time, 11:30-3:30 Eastern Time. Each session will be 4 hours in length, except the last session will only be 2 hours from 8:30 am-10:30 am Pacific time, 11:30am-2:30 pm Eastern Time.

DESCRIPTION: We’re seeing more and more couples in conflict over one partner’s porn use. The most common clinical approach pathologizes the porn consumer while legitimizing the other partner’s grievances. This violates our commitment to neutrality. More importantly, it doesn’t help the couple.
To help us work more effectively with such cases, this webinar focuses on treating intrapsychic conflicts, power struggles, and existential issues relating to porn use and sexuality.
We’ll look at how one or both partners may be acting out body image issues, and how each partner’s narratives about pornography, sexuality, and gender may be underlying themes in a couple’s conflict.
We’ll also explore how conflict about pornography often allows couples to avoid confronting their sexual relationship’s deficits. And we’ll look at various sexual issues—such as desire, arousal, and masturbation—that should be raised when working with these cases.
Finally, we’ll examine how to work with people who are using porn in unhealthy ways—without increasing their sense of shame, guilt, isolation, or inadequacy.
When a patient says they’re “out of control” regarding porn, is that really accurate? We’ll examine why “porn addiction” is not a helpful concept—and you’ll learn alternate, effective treatment approaches that are skills-based rather than deficit-based, and which enhance relationship connection rather than undermine it.
