Pre-Requisites for Psychologist License in California:

* * *For Those Who BEGAN Graduate Training before January 1, 1995, from BOP Licensing FAQs, you will need the following:

1. Child Abuse  (7 CE Credit Hours) 
2. Human Sexuality: Advances and Treatment  (10 CE Credit Hours)    
3. Substance abuse – 15 hrs must be taken at an accredited or approved educational institution. See Explanation below.

Alcoholism and Other Chemical Substance Dependency (15 hours, required): Pursuant to California Code of Regulations (CCR) section 1382.3(b) “The course must be obtained at a degree-granting educational institution, or in an extension course offered by an institution, that is either accredited as defined in Education Code Section 94813, or approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education.” 
Since the Zur Institute is not a degree-granting educational institution, our Substance abuse course cannot fulfill this requirement.

If you are an applicant with a California degree and are required by CA BBS to fulfill the CA Law and Professional Ethics, Psychological Testing, and Psychopharmacology requirements, the courses must be 2 semester units or 3 quarter units and cannot be taken through Zur Institute.

If you are an applicant with an out-of-state degree and are required by CA BBS to fulfill these requirements, Psychological Testing and Psychopharmacology, you may complete these courses through Zur Institute.

Zur Institute does not offer:
“Mental Health Recovery Oriented Care and Methods of Service Delivery” (3 semester units / 4.5 quarter units / 45 hours)
“California Cultures, and the Social and Psychological Implications of Socioeconomic Status” (1 semester unit / 15 hours)
“Diagnosis, Assessment, Prognosis and Treatment of Mental Disorders” (2 semester units)
“Multicultural Development and Cross-Cultural Interaction” (1 semester unit / 15 hours)
“Developmental Issues from Infancy to Old Age” (1 semester unit / 15 hours)
“Co-Occurring Disorders and Addiction” (15 hours)
