- American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine has frequently updated news articles and a directory of anti-aging physicians.
- Life Extension Foundation has forward-thinking, research-based articles on anti-aging health issues. Their monthly magazine, Life Extension, is in many libraries and much of its content is free online.
- Medicare.gov has info on Medicare benefits and rules and detailed reviews of nursing homes and hospitals by zip code area, state, and nationwide.
- National Institute on Aging is a federal government agency that has news items, especially on the research it funds.

- Perelman, Dale Richard. (1999). Centenarians: One hundred 100 year olds who made a difference. Bloomington, IN: AuthorHouse. Perelman profiles 23 famous centenarians and gives brief descriptions of 77 more.
- Perls, Thomas, & Silver, Margery. (1999). Living to 100. New York: Basic Books. This is the most comprehensive scientific study of centenarians.
Centenarian Biographies and Autobiographies
- Dawson, George. (2000). Life is so good. New York: Random House. Mr. Dawson, an African-American, dropped out of elementary school to help his family on the farm in Texas. At 98 he enrolled in adult education classes and learned to read and write. He died in 2001 at age 103.
- Delany, Sadie, & Delany, Bessie. (1993). Having our say: The Delany sisters’ first 100 years. New York: Dramatists Play Service. This is a fascinating biography of two never-married African-American sisters. Sadie was a home economics teacher and Bessie was a dentist. The book became a best seller and then a Tony winning Broadway play. They then wrote (1996) The Delany sisters’ book of everyday wisdom, a collection of stories, recipes, and advice. When Bessie died, Sadie wrote (1998) On my own at 107: Life without Bessie.
- Lebre, Victor, Robine, Jean-Marie, & Calment, Jeanne. (1998). Jeanne Calment: From Van Gogh’s time to ours: 122 extraordinary years. New York: W. H. Freeman. Jeanne Calment holds the (documented) record for living the longest. She was a remarkably independent French woman who lived life her way. She died in 1997 at age 122.
- McBurney, Ralph Waldo. (2007). My first 100 years: A look back from the finish line. Leawood, KS: Leathers Pub. This short paperback chronicles this Kansas born and raised farmer and beekeeper who loves running at every age and loves sharing his philosophy and advice. He died in 2009 at age 106.
- Textor-Black, Sharon. (2009). Elsa’s own blue zone: America’s centenarian sweetheart’s insights for positive aging and living. New York: Morgan James Publishing. Textor-Black chronicles her bon vivant centenarian, grandmother, Elsa Hoffman. The book’s cover sets the tone with a Chippendale young man holding her in his arms. Ms Hoffman does her own laundry, ironing, sewing, etc. and has a very active social life. I interviewed Ms Hoffman twice on Ageless Lifestyles®. - Wood, Beatrice. (1985). I shock myself: The autobiography of Beatrice Wood. San Francisco: Chronicle Books. Wood chronicles her bohemian lifestyle and discovery of her passion for ceramics. She was one of the nation’s most prominent ceramicists. There are also several books about her, photo books of her pottery, and a film honoring her hundredth birthday. She died in 1998 at age 105.
- Gerontology Research Group has a combination of information about super centenarians (age 110+) and scientific advances in life extension. It has a continuously updated list of super centenarians worldwide.
- National Centenarian Awareness Project publicizes US centenarian achievements, news, and events. While the website does not have recent postings, it still has a lot of information.
- Noted Nonagenarians & Centenarians identifies and has about 200 pictures of famous people who are or have lived to at least age 90.
