DESCRIPTION: The final webinar turns to the questions of ethics, business strategy, and our own experience. AI raises ethical challenges that our professional guidelines have not yet caught up with, including confidentiality, documentation, liability, informed consent, and the value and limits of peer guidance when the ground is shifting this quickly. We will examine concrete options for becoming more competitive, including integrating VR protocols, deepening our human presence in the therapy room, offering a hybrid therapy + AI model of care, reconsidering fees and availability, and reskilling toward the areas where AI consistently falls short: severe mental illness, couples therapy, trauma, family systems, and forensics.

The webinar closes with a discussion of the personal reactions most of us are having to our rapidly changing professional landscape and world. Together, we will consider countertransference with AI-involved clients, the challenge of sitting with an uncertain professional future, AI’s reach into our personal and family lives, and self-care as a clinical imperative rather than a luxury. We will close by exploring the meaning and opportunity this moment holds for therapists willing to meet it.
