About the Author.
Marty Klein, Ph.D.
Dr. Marty Klein has been an LMFT and Certified Sex Therapist in Palo Alto, California for over 30 years. The award-winning author of 7 books, he is frequently quoted by the popular press, including The New Yorker, The New York Times, and on 20/20, Nightline, and NPR. For 20 years he has written and published Sexual Intelligence, the award-winning blog and electronic newsletter.
Marty is outspoken about many popular and clinical ideas about sexuality, decrying our field’s gender stereotypes, sex-negativity, and what he calls “the Oprah-ization of therapy.” He is a qualified forensic expert who has participated in many state, federal, and international cases. He has also given two Congressional briefings on evidence-based sex education.
Each year Marty trains tens of thousands of physicians and psychologists across North America and internationally, using the insights of sociology, history, and linguistics to enrich participants’ clinical work. In addition to lecturing in 30 countries, Marty has been an invited master presenter at many of this country’s most prestigious conferences, including the Psychotherapy Networker, Erickson Foundation, and the Society for Sex Therapy & Research. Audiences consistently call his talks thought-provoking, practical, and entertaining. Dr. Klein can be reached at Klein@SexEd.org. For more of his work, see www.SexEd.org.
