An Introduction to AI in the Mental Health Field
Seems as if hardly a day goes by anymore without AI being mentioned. Use of AI has already made its way into the field of mental health and the possibilities for future use is astounding.
What is AI and how might in impact the dynamics between clinicians and the people we work with?
This beginning level course designed to take some of the mystique out of AI and break down concepts for those who are not technically inclined. The course begins by clarifying terminology such as AI, machine learning, big data, bots and algorithms and reviews how these are used in everyday applications.
The course then provides a conceptual overview of how emerging technologies are both currently being used, while providing glimpses of what might be possible in the near future.
This course is designed to provide a conceptualization of how AI works and is NOT designed to discuss more than basic examples of clinical applications.
Though not formally a part of this course, links to several YouTube videos are provided as a means of further demonstrating concepts discussed.
