DESCRIPTION: Sex tech is advancing at breakneck speed, and our sexual and intimate lives are entering uncharted territory. From AI-driven chatbots that flirt, comfort, and seduce, to immersive sex toys that blur the line between reality and fantasy, haptic technologies, VR porn, avatar sex, and sex dolls and robots, technology is becoming an ever-present force in modern sexuality. Cross-cultural trends reveal that people are having less sex together, spending more time with their screens, and reporting higher levels of stress and loneliness – a perfect storm fueling the increasing popularity of artificial intimacy.
These developments are no longer speculative: research suggests that many clients are already engaging with these technologies. In this webinar, therapists will gain an overview of today’s rapidly evolving sex tech landscape, including the major technologies currently available and those likely to shape the future. We will examine the burgeoning research on who is using them and how they may affect biology, psychology, and well-being. We will explore the advantages of advancing sex tech and the populations most likely to benefit. Potential risks, as well as the clinical questions and challenges therapists are increasingly likely to encounter in practice, will be addressed.
